Tune Tuesday

I would describe My Brightest Diamond as a silent inferno of white fire and black sea storms. Shara’s lyrics and beats are magical but her voice is what brings true life to it. Opera like passion meshes with rock beats; truly amazing.

“My Brightest Diamond is spearheaded by Shara Worden, granddaughter of an Epiphone-playing traveling evangelist, fathered by a National Accordion Champion, and mothered by a classical organist.” – MBD’s Myspace

My favorite is "Something of an End" but
another popular song of her's is "Inside a Boy"

Lyrics...
When you came jumpin' down the stairs
Screamin' bloody awful
You woke up God & everyone
Screamin' bloody awful

So we took you to the doctor
He said yeah it's a bad one
& there's such a shame about it
'Cause she's so pretty

& then the earth sarted shakin'
& yeah it was crazy
& heaven & hell came crashing down
& then the earth sarted shakin'
& yeah it was crazy
& heaven & hell came crashing down

It was beautiful & terrible
So beautiful & terrible

The phone call
You never expect
Did somebody get it yet
It's a sound you never forget

Because the earth starts shakin'
& yeah it's crazy
Heaven & hell come crashing down
& then the earth starts shakin
& yeah it's so crazy
Heaven & hell come crashing
They come crashing

It's so beautiful & terrible
So beautiful & terrible

It was something of an end
Of a lovely & a wild thing
So beautiful in the morning
You're beautiful
So beautiful
You're beautiful in the morning

& I can't seem to get it through your head
No matter what I do
I can't seem to get it through your head
That I always love you

Phew....

Hello lovely love love loves!! For those wondering where the heck I have been, here is the dealio! hahaha I'm being weird tonight....I think it's the paint fumes..

So My sister moved out a while ago and I had been thinking about moving into her room. Her's was bigger than my room by far. She had painted it a dark brown color. It was a pretty color but far to dark for me.

Ha, I took this picture before I painted over it. Just to show what colors the room has previously been painted. Yellow, Pink, blue.....

AND here it is!!!! It's taken two days but TA-DA!!!

I'll take more pictures as I get moved in and start decorating it the way I want it!

Hope you all are having an AWESOME weekend
xoxo

What the heck....

News: A friend of mine just had her baby!

Two books that I can not wait to read. They are both interesting and different in their own special way. The book of Awesome is a list of 1000 awesome things but what makes this special is something you need to read for your self. Thank you Brooke for posting this, I read it and now I'm passing it along to you.

One Line a Day is exactly what it sounds like, This lady wrote one sentence a day for five years and compiled it into a book. It seems like a very interesting way to write a book to me.

Now here is the "What the heck" part of the post. I witnessed something crazy last night. I was driving to go pick up my boyfriend. It was a red light so I was just waiting when I looked to my left and see a small compact car driving backwards. YES, backwards. He then turned and backed into this small store. Then a crazy lady in shorts holding a pipe comes running at his car. He peels out of there heading in the opposite direction. She's standing in the middle of the intersection watching him drive away and then turns around and starts walking back from where she came. I watched her and she had parked her car across the road so no one could go down the road. I had a green light so I thought to my self....hmmmm I think i'll go the long way around. craziness!!

Belated Heart Day

I know Valentine's day was yesterday but I had things I was going to post and my mind was elsewhere that day. For about 4 days, until yesterday, it was "Tell her she's beautiful". If you are a friend on Facebook I did an announcement saying "To all my lovely ladies on here, you are beautiful." I also wrote this up real quick and I hope to sneak it into a bathroom some where and leave it for the next woman to find.

I put together an outfit on Polyvore of what I would have worn had it not been below 30F. It's simple and cute but still has a feminine touch. I ended up wearing a red tank, purple sweater, and skinny jeans. I've realized that I wear red and purple together a lot lately.

I also realized something else the other day, I sometimes have panic attacks. Not an extreme feeling like i'm having a heart attack, like I had that one time. But the kind where you feel trapped and you start to get an adrenalin rush, you feel scared, but I also felt repulsed. This usually only happens or so far only happened at stores (I.e. Wal-mart & a dollar store). I hate the feeling of being surrounded (Why do I want to go to a concert?). I hate people who don't realize they are being rude and standing to close to me or taking up a whole isle. Does this happen every time? No, there is a connection with it and my menstrual cycle. I get very emotional on mine, crying for no reason. But I need to get a hold of it because I feel like I can't go out when I'm on it or about to.

Oh I also have another problem, It's called FEAR! My boyfriend and I got into a slight disagreement the other day about this certain fear I have. Dogs. That art work pretty much sums up my fear. For those who don't know I was almost attacked by a dog a couple summers ago. I was alone, so close to my car but so far away, screaming for help but not getting any (plus the only person who could help me literally looked at me and drove away, who leaves someone to get attacked by a dog?). I was lucky the dog didn't jump, It was a huge dog and would have taken me down easily. I was scared, I cried when I got home, shaking. But I didn't realized how much it had scared me till about a month later. I was in my sewing room and I guess my step dad was going between the house and the garage, he left the garage door open. I walked down the stairs and I saw the dog starring at me. I ran down the steps and slammed the door in its face. Then broke down again.

Here is what we had a disagreement about. My boyfriend has two small adult dogs, they barely come to the middle of my lower leg. But Todo, he has some kind of stress disorder from when he was beaten as a puppy (my boyfriend didn't beat the dog, they got it from someone who had rescued it). Todo will bite you, mainly your ankles since he's short but he has bite me before. I have to get my boyfriend or one of his brothers to walk me to his room because if not the dog will try to bite me. The BF walked away the other day and left room for the dog to come in between us. He told me it's okay he won't bite look his tails wagging (I've petted him before to let him know it was me and then when I started walking he bit me) but I couldn't move I kept saying jodi come here, he wouldn't come and he said it "Steph you have a fear of dogs" YES I KNOW PLEASE COME HERE" the dog was really close to my legs by now and his family was watching me. I felt so upset. He says I have an irrational fear.

That was the argument that my fear was irrational. I think it's pretty lousy to tell someone their fear is stupid. But deep down i know that I shouldn't be afraid of every dog that barks but I am. Because when they start it takes me back to that moment in time.

Sorry for the long post, I needed to let that out.

Write Love On Her Arms Day

Today was "Write Love On Her Arms Day". WLOHA is an organization/charity that tries to help people who are depressed or suicidal. Truthfully I bought the shirt last summer because I liked it and had no idea it was a suicide prevention shirt. I finally found out about a month or so ago what the shirt meant. So today I made sure I wore the shirt and informed as many people that were curious. Now some of you might be wondering, Steph? why help emo people? Well let me be the first to say that I have laughed at my share of emo jokes but I take depression and suicide very seriously. I really feel like more people need to be open about this and LISTEN when someone close to them comes up and says they need to talk. I've never been suicidal, but I have been depressed many times in my life to the point that everything just stops around me and I feel like I'm an inch high.

If anyone else out there wants to help spread the love and acceptance here are some places to go!

To Write Love On Her Arms Website (buy a shirt, bag, or accessories and proceeds go to the charity)

P.s. You can also buy the shirts at HotTopic

Suicide Hotline is 1-800-SUICIDE

MORE MUSIC PLEASE

AH! I forgot to post Tune Tuesday!! I got so wrapped up in Blogger of the Month that I forgot to post the Music!! AH So I decided to post two bands this time (and a day 1/2 early)

BAND ONE: The Used
Website: TheUsed.net
Myspace: The Used

Okay so truthfully this isn't a band that I love all of their songs. It's just this one song, Hospital. My boyfriend was watching something on youtube and the song was playing...instantly stuck in my head.

BAND TWO: Owen Pallett
Website: owenpalletteternal.com
Myspace: Owen Pallett

Owen Pallett is for the most part a one man band. He use to go under the false name of Final Fantasy (yes the game, he was a fan). Rather recently though he retired the name and now just goes by Owen Pallett. This also makes him easier to find in search engines. Owen is a beautiful violinist from Ontario Canada. He has a very classical vibe but it’s so strong and dramatic that it doesn’t come across boring in the least. He's also touring a lot right now, check his myspace for the dates.

Blogger of the Month- February

February's Blogger of the Month is some one I have known on Blogger for a while now. Her name is Em, She is so sweet and loves to blog. Em has blogs among blogs. She writes stories on some, movie review on another, and her recent one that you'll read more about below.

Blog Related Questions

How or why did you start blogging?
I started blogging when I was hanging out with my mom and she showed me and made me one. Soon I figured I didn't just have to write about silly things and I could put up reviews, stories, and spread the word on causes. Blogger really gives us so many possibilities.

Besides Blogging what are some other passions of yours?
I absolutely love writing and movies (if you couldn't tell). Without those two things I don't know what I would do. I love listening to music, running, and editing photos on this cool site called Picnik. Hanging out with my friends and family is also fun. Amusement parks are also I think the best place to go to (either than the beach, library or movies) so you can see me hanging out there often!

Care to explain what “Pains of being Skinny at Heart” is and how others can get in on it?
The Pains of Being Skinny at Heart is a support blog for girls with eating disorders or who are struggling with depression. Anyone is welcome though. To get in on the blog though is by just commenting or following. I hope to put up something where people can donate money soon though. I want to start a camp/retreat for girls to go and meet other like them and talk to them. Basically TPOBSAT is just about spreading the word about problems girls have and making a difference.

In what way would you say blogging has helped you?
It improves my writing by A LOT. And I mean it too, getting such great comments really helps and it gets my name out there. It's Em if you didn't know that. Hah, well I just have to say this is definitely the best place to start out if you want to get recognized though. Some other websites are like High School, they have all the cliques and when you start off, you’re a loner! This place is way more welcoming.

What advice would you give to bloggers just starting out?
Don't procrastinate! The more you blog, the more you learn and the better you get! You're also more likely to get readers if you frequently update. They won't comment if your last post was too long ago. They'll most likely think you don't blog anymore :P

Have you ever met some of your blogger friends in person?
Well I have gotten some of my best friends to blog so yes. But someone I met through Blogger. No. I live in Southern California and it seems that all the people I talk to on Blogger live all over the place!

Random Questions

What are your favorite websites to visit everyday?
I have to say I have grown a slight addiction to Twitter so I check that frequently :P Of course my email and blogger and occasionally Facebook when up to it. I have to say I don't watch tons of Youtube videos or go on Myspace.

Can you list come of your favorite tunes to sway to?
1)Mushaboom (both normal and remix version) by Feist 2)Help I'm Alive by Metric 3) You Can't Fail Me Now by Loudon Wainwright III 4) Set You Free by The Black Keys 5) See U in the Dark by Honor Society 6) First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes 7) Run by Vampire Weekend 8) Caring is Creepy by The Shins 9) Electric Feel by MGMT 10) Let Go by Frou Frou
Those were my top ten all time favorites :)

Is there something you are really looking forward too?
Other than the bright sunny days of Summer, not really. Though I am very excited for Alice in Wonderland to come out! Yeah, I love movies.

If your style had a name what would it be?
Something pretty awesome. I have grown from graphic tees and jeans to v-necks, jeans, and cool skirts. Now I say I like plain and simple with a kick. My personality reeks of artist apparently so I guess I would call it Em...for well me.

Would you rather write on paper or type on a computer?
Typing is a lot easier and quicker to get ideas out but I think seeing your writing on paper gives you the ability to see your mistakes a lot easier. I'm lazy so I would probably pick typing on a computer, because you can so easily send and post your stuff up. But I have to say writing because you can't bring a computer with you everywhere! It's so much easier to just bring a mini notepad and a pen.

Extra Questions: Carousel or Ferris wheel?
Ferris Wheel, something about it seems so magical. A carousel just seems like your lost in a crowd while music is blaring and images are flying past you.
